2019 New Incentives

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is updating incentives for the AC Quality Care Program. The incentive structure below is effective January 1, 2019.

ACCA 4 Assessment

Amount: $40

  • No prerequisite measures.
  • All measures must be performed by a Participating Contractor’s qualified technician.
  • Must cover all the steps included in the Assessment Process, including the conversation with customer about their goals and concerns.
  • Must include a report with a written estimate for work required to meet standard.
  • Must include filter change and date placed on filter*, condenser coil cleaning, and static pressure check.

The initial assessment typically takes 1 hour. Customers can choose to have one contractor do the Assessment and a different contractor to do the work.

*If the filter cannot be changed, technicians should date the existing filter and write “Recommended Filter Change” on the filter.

Refrigerant Charge Adjustment

Amount: $50

  • Completion of the Assessment
  • The assessment test must demonstrate refrigerant cycle test-in failing and test-out passing in SA Mobile.
  • Must be done when weather conditions will support accurate results.
  • A static pressure reading between 0.5-1.0 IWC must be achieved when completing charge adjustment and cannot be performed if condenser coils are more than 15% damaged.
  • Suction line must be fully insulated, both inside and outside.
  • Locking caps must always be installed on units after they receive a refrigeration adjustment—regardless of the unit’s location (even if it’s on a rooftop).
  • The Refrigerant System Service measure requires a charge adjustment to be performed and recorded in SA Mobile.

Efficient Fan Delay Control

Amount: $70

  • Completion of the Assessment
  • The installed fan delay relay must be an approved model listed by the Program. Visit the AC Quality Care website Contractor page for a list of eligible models.

Blower Motor Replacement

Amount: $220

  • Completion of the Assessment
  • The installed motor model must be a direct drive, permanent magnet, constant speed motor listed by the Program. Visit the AC Quality Care website Contractor page for a list of eligible models.

Additional Incentive*

Amount: $50

  • Completion of the Assessment
  • Completion of two (2) Energy Saving Measures by the same Participating Contractor
  • The energy efficient measures are (1) refrigerant charge adjustment, (2) efficient fan delay control, and (3) blower motor replacement.

Additional Incentive*

Amount: $100

  • Completion of the Assessment
  • Completion of two (2) Energy Saving Measures by the same Participating Contractor
  • Installation of a smart thermostat
  • The installed smart thermostat must be an approved model listed by the Program. Visit the AC Quality Care website Contractor page for a list of eligible models.

*Only one additional incentive is available per eligible customer.
